The Toronto Marlies defeated the Oklahoma City Barons, AHL affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers, by a score of 4-1 this afternoon at Ricoh Coliseum.
After a scoreless opening period, Anton Lander gave the Barons a 1-0 lead on the powerplay at 3:48 of the middle frame. Greg McKegg and Jamie Devane would tally twice in just over a minute to give Toronto a 2-1 lead heading into the third period. McKegg’s 13th goal of the season and second of the afternoon gave the Marlies a 3-1 lead at 9:42 of the final frame. Brandon Kozun sealed the victory for Toronto on a powerplay with just under three minutes remaining in the game. Garret Sparks stopped 38 of 39 shots and was named the game’s first star.
The Marlies return to the ice on Wednesday morning when they host the Binghamton Senators, AHL affiliate of the Ottawa Senators, at 11 a.m. Limited tickets are still available and can be purchased by calling the team’s ticket line at 416-597-PUCK (7825) or by visiting marlies.ca.
